Questions doctors ask us

How does Cadent support Indigenous patients and people affected by trauma?

Cadent's intake is trauma-informed by design: patients choose how much to share, can skip any question, and are never pushed for details of painful experiences. It also asks about cultural, community and spiritual context, and a psychiatrist, not the AI, reviews everything with the patient. Patients can bring a family member, support person or Elder to the visit.

Where do my patients come from?

Family doctors refer patients to Cadent, mostly through Pathways. We book them into the hours you give us, so you don’t need to find patients or advertise.

Is Cadent just another AI scribe?

No. A scribe writes down the visit. Cadent is a complete platform, built by physicians for physicians, that supports you before, during and after the consult: patients complete a structured intake before you meet, your note updates as you see them, safety concerns are flagged, and our admin team handles booking and follow-up. It uses several AI models tuned for different parts of the note, with medical guardrails. It supercharges your work and helps your patients, and you stay in full control: you review, edit and sign everything.

What does the AI intake look like for patients?

Patients do it at home, by chat or by speaking, with standardized questionnaires like the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 built in. It saves as they go and sends reminders, and we only book them once it’s done.

How does my visit change?

You start with the history already gathered, so instead of taking it you review it with the patient. Many doctors confirm it in about 15 minutes. Record the visit and the note updates itself; edit it by typing or just ask.

Is this private practice? Do I need to set anything up?

Think of it as private practice on demand. Give us a few hours and we fill them. Everything is virtual, and our admin team handles booking, follow-up and faxing.

Which patients will I see?

Adults only. Consults are one-off by default, with recommendations sent back to the family doctor. You can offer follow-ups if you’d like.

What if a patient is in crisis?

The intake flags safety concerns before booking, and our admin team contacts the family doctor to redirect patients who need urgent care.

How does payment work?

You bill as usual, and a small share covers the admin team and the platform. We’ll walk you through the details on your call.

Is patient data secure?

Patient data is stored on servers in Canada, and the system is built with medical guardrails.

Can I try it before committing?

Yes. Try the patient intake yourself, talk to a Cadent doctor, and start with three or four patients. No commitment.

How does Cadent handle trauma during the intake?

The intake is trauma-informed by design. Patients choose how much to share, can skip any question, and are never pushed to retell painful experiences; those details can wait for the appointment, on the patient's terms. The AI never diagnoses or labels; a psychiatrist reviews everything with the patient.
